Fund Raiser for Connor
An event to raise money for the Connor Schlosser family has been organized for Sunday August 1, 2010 Noon to 6 PM at the Holmen Legion. We thank Derrick for donating the building for this event.
Connor was born 15 weeks premature on December 10, 2009. The family did not have insurance to cover a pregnancy and birth. After spending 10 days here in La Crosse his condition began to deteriorate. On December 20, 2009 he was transferred by helicopter to St. Mary’s in Rochester, MN. He spent the next 3 months there. Many complications developed during his stay there requiring breathing support, heart surgery, a paralyzed vocal cord, and multiple blood transfusions. Connor was finally able to come home on March 20, 2010. Connor suffered a large brain bleed early on and it is expected he will have long term deficits because of this.
While Connor was at Rochester, Kevin and Stella (Connor’s parents) were able to stay at the Ronald McDonald house. However, because of the long hospital stay they suffered loss of work and incurred many expenses for food and gas to go between Rochester with Connor and back to Holmen to be with their other children, Brenna 8 and Michael 6. During this time, they also had non family members caring for the children at home that need to be reimbursed for their time, gas for transporting the children to their activities, etc.
We thank you in advance for anything you can do to donate for the silent auction and raffle or cash to purchase items for this event. We are trying to get enough cash donations to purchase a trip as a big auction item. Also, we are looking for donations of wine for the wine wall. We need the auction items by July 1, 2010 to be organized with set up.
Monetary donations can be sent to Connor Schlosser Fund Coulee Bank 1516 Losey Blvd La Crosse, WI 54601 or the address below.
Thank you in advance for your donation.

Baby Connor’s Status
Connor Reaves Schlosser was born on December 10, 2009, 15 weeks premature. He weighed in at 1 pound 15 ounces and was 14 ½ inches long. Early on it was found that he had a bleed in his brain on the right side and that the left side of his brain is affected by hydrocephalus. On December 20 he was transported by helicopter to St. Mary’s in Rochester, Minnesota. This move was necessary so that he could be placed on a special “jet” ventilator that is unavailable in LaCrosse. After a week in Rochester he underwent surgery to close a duct on his heart. He has had over ten blood transfusions and the Doctors anticipate the need for more during his stay in the NICU. Although he has started to stabilize over the last two weeks there is still a good chance that his brain bleed will cause problems with his development. He will remain in the Neonatal ICU for several more months to come.
There are many expenses, aside from the mounting medical expenses, that have occurred due to his early birth and transport to Rochester. His parents are staying at the nearby Ronald McDonald House in Rochester most nights. But in the attempt to maintain some sense of normalcy for the other children at home, they drive back to LaCrosse frequently and the cost of gas and other minor expenses has mounted to hundreds of dollars each week.
He has already faced many challenges but he does have many more ahead. Fortunately he is quite the little guy and has a lot of fight in him. Connor and his family are very appreciative of the many prayers they have received and will continue to receive from people.
An account has been set up for Connor at:
